Why We Started The Event Ledger
The Event Ledger exists because we saw too many wedding and event professionals surviving on passion and hustle alone - overworked, underpaid, and overwhelmed by their finances. The creative work was thriving. The business behind it wasn't.
We started this firm to change that. To give creative entrepreneurs the kind of financial partnership they actually need - built around the realities of seasonal revenue, deposit-driven cash flow, retainer accounting, and the specific quirks of how wedding and event businesses actually operate. Our goal is simple: help business owners turn their vision into reality - a thriving business that supports their life, not the other way around.
Meet Matt Mitchell, Co-Founder and CEO
Matt brings a rare blend of financial expertise and creative industry experience to The Event Ledger. He spent over 13 years in the finance world, working closely with ultra-high-net-worth families on wealth and estate planning, where he saw the power of strategic, numbers-driven decision-making.
But his passion for the event world led him to found and run a successful wedding planning company for eight years - where he experienced firsthand the challenges creatives face behind the scenes. That dual perspective is what shaped The Event Ledger: a firm that speaks finance fluently and weddings fluently, without translation in between.
Today, Matt is a QuickBooks Pro Advisor, Gusto Payroll Certified, and a Pro Educator with the CWP Society. He's committed to giving creatives the tools, confidence, and clarity they need to build businesses that last.
